How To...

I'd like to give a little tip to lightroom users. I really like some of the effects that are available in lightroom but some of them are too intense for me, often I want just a little 'kick' to my image.

First off, pick an image and apply a preset effect. Here I have chosen a portrait of me taken by Chase Ingraham and applied a preset effect that I had downloaded from a beauty collection. The effects are just a little too much for this image. You can purchase a fade slider plugin for lightroom, but for free I prefer to open both images, the original and the one with the effect applied, into photoshop to finish working on the final image. You can open them as layers or seperetly and then move them together, I like my one with the applied effect to be on top. After both of your images are in the same file bring the opacity down on the top image to a point that you like. I put the top layer with effects at 50% opacity and it gives just a little extra effect to the final image.

I have included a side by side comparison. One is the beginning image, two is the full effect, and three is the final image after fading the effect.
